The old town still shows the path of orthogonal streets of Roman origin with thistles and decumani, while towards the mountain it is surrounded by sixteenth century walls. There you can find the Cathedral, rebuilt in the fifteenth century, with neo-Gothic facade, and the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, with a remarkable fourteenth-century cloister with Arabic arches portic that twist on octagonal pillars . In the Correale Museum of Terranova they are exhibited the collections of Greek and Roman artcrafts and Capodimonte porcelain, with a section dedicated to the XVII-XIX century painting; from the park you can enjoy a magnificent view of the gulf. At Punta del Capo, 3 km to the west, are considered Roman ruins of the villa of Pollio Felice (first century A.D.).
